Hilda books are so full of adventure and kids being confident。 This one is a little darker in that it shows how hildas adventuring and lying to her mom is hurting hildas mum。 Hilda is acting selfishly 7ntil it leads to them getting lost together and having a scary adventure together。 Not as light hearted as his other hilda books but still fun and adventurous。 Also thunder birds!

Woah! So awesome。 :-) I love this series and this one is definitely a highlight for me! The adventure is spot on and this time Mum gets to join the “fun。”

I really love this series。 It was a really fun read but now I just started watching the Netflix series like I usually watch movies after the book but in this situation I would TOTALLY recommend watching the show before the book。 The show has more information and just isn’t as fun because the book is different to it。 I stopped reading after book 5 when I realized this。

Mum goes on an adventure with Hilda。

I really liked the story in this one。 These were also my favourite episodes from the Netflix show。 There is a sense of adventure and we see more of her mother。

。。。more

A large part of season 2 is based on this one。

Almost shot for shot, the final episode pf series 2 on Netflix, except Raven is more prominent。 I wonder why he was left out in series 2 episodes? No matter! I love how the Hilda series team was able to craft such an amazing world out of these first five graphic novels。 Great stuff!

I liked the whole series - but what happened there at the end?

A dark, dramatic, clever and tearful instalment - and the comic series will only become darker, cleverer and more touching。Now we come to the storyline that the first season of the Netflix series didn't adapt。 It's all about the feared stone trolls in the mountains。 It's about how they live and behave in their society; how their varied relationships with one another work (it's dysfunctional, disorganised, and mostly hostile); and what their lore and history is。And at the heart of this adventure, A dark, dramatic, clever and tearful instalment - and the comic series will only become darker, cleverer and more touching。Now we come to the storyline that the first season of the Netflix series didn't adapt。 It's all about the feared stone trolls in the mountains。 It's about how they live and behave in their society; how their varied relationships with one another work (it's dysfunctional, disorganised, and mostly hostile); and what their lore and history is。And at the heart of this adventure, this danger, this strangest and most fantastical of situations, is the mother-and-daughter relationship drama。Hilda and her mother have such a complex, rocky, yet touching and realistic bond。 Mum is not "just Mum"。 She is not just someone for Hilda to home to for food and bed after another adventure: Mum is with her daughter when they end up trapped with the deadly trolls in the mountains (she had grounded Hilda for her many escapades), and together they will bravely find a way out and back home。 They do work brilliantly together; and love each other dearly。(Also included are Frida, David, elves, a ground stump creature, the raven, and Hilda's Tontu the Nisse in cameo appearances。)But even after that perilous ordeal, Hilda and Mum's troubles are far from over。 Their love will be put further to the test - not to mention the very fate of Trollberg will be in their hands - in the sixth and currently final 'Hilda' comic, 'Hilda and the Mountain King'。Final Score: 4。5/5 。。。more

Cute covers, amazing art, another fun adventure。 (view spoiler)[Also features the first cliffhanger ending, making this kind of a two-part adventure。 (hide spoiler)] Cute covers, amazing art, another fun adventure。 (view spoiler)[Also features the first cliffhanger ending, making this kind of a two-part adventure。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

This volume of Hilda felt very different from the previous four for a few reasons: there are many more sections of the book that feel like self-contained sequences (which kind of reminded me of Calvin and Hobbes strips, an association I also had with parts of the Black Hound book), and more silent panels。 Even though the book is one of the longer at 64 pages, it reads pretty quickly。 This is also the first one that is not a complete story。 (And we don't have book 6 yet!) The unexplained troll magic that occurs in the book is particularly intriguing。 I hope that Pearson explains the mechanics of what happened in the next book。 As a parent, I appreciated the evolving dynamic between Hilda and her mother, and I liked seeing them on an adventure together。 Both my four-year-olds and I are eager to find out what happens to Hilda next。 。。。more

Always awesome, I really like these books, and will be reading more of them。

I love the Hilda books。 I genuinely enjoy reading them。 My daughter also loves them and has been rereading them for months。 The Stone Forest's themes are about trust and communication。 The mom is a strong character, which I appreciate!
